January: The scent design project
Exploration into the senses has moved into the realm of smell, and I've studied for some years in the chemistry and composition of perfume. This is an outgrowth of my freelance work for Fragrantica, writing about the scent industry. The parallels between painting and scent are numerous, and often the nuances of each wrap around each other. In 2015, January Scent Project was born, and I’ve steadily added to the original composition, Smolderose, with a growing array of fragrances. They’ve been written about in Luca Turin and Tanya Sanchez’s Perfumes: The Guide 2018, and featured in numerous online reviews and articles.
